U.S. economy: Recession concerns ease
Companies in the U.S. added more jobs than forecast in August, easing concern the world’s largest economy is sliding back into a recession. President Obama said there is “no quick fix” for the economy and urged Congress to pass a package of measures to help small businesses, including tax breaks and aid to ease credit. Full Article.
Oil Spill Dispersant concerns rise
La’s Secretary of Dept of Wildlife and Fisheries recently commented that the biggest mystery about the Deepwater Horizon oil spill will be the impacts of the tremendous amounts of sub-sea dispersants used by BP in the cleanup effort. LA will test more than any other state to ensure the safety of its seafood and is in talks with BP along with the EPA & the Dept of Health and Hospitals to secure $457 million for the testing and establishment of a LA seafood certification. Restaurant patrons nervous over safety of Gulf Seafood
"…They believe it's toxic…" Louisiana-themed restaurants -- to say nothing of restaurants in New Orleans -- are not the only ones playing host to diners suspicious of seafood associated with the Gulf Coast.
