Job-centric leadership and incentives needed to expand U.S. domestic employment

Today, manufacturing employment in the U.S. computer industry is about 166,000, lower than it was before the first PC was assembled in 1975. Meanwhile, a very effective computer manufacturing industry has emerged in Asia, employing about 1.5 million workers. Since the early days of Silicon Valley, the money invested in companies has increased dramatically, only to produce fewer jobs. Full Article.

 

What We Don't Know About Small Business Lending

Small business lending remains down, and the latest remedy to surface is President Barack Obama's $30 billion plan to offer capital to small banks with incentives to loan it to small companies. It's not clear, however, if it will manage better than previous efforts to increase the supply of credit by pumping money into banks. Full Article.
