Hodges Gardens to host fireworks, music July 4th weekend

The Friends of Hodges Gardens will kick off the Fourth of July weekend beginning at 6 p.m. Friday July 1, 2011. Events include food, fireworks and music. Full article.  

 

ArtWalk starts at 4 p.m. April 15, 2011

Visitors to the annual spring ArtWalk, hosted by the Arts Council of Central LA and the City of Alexandria, will likely hear the ring, ring of Alexandria's only trolley, the Spirit of Alexandria. The Arts Council extended the footprint of ArtWalk to include the Arna Bontempts African American Museum, The T.R.E.E. House Children's Museum and Emmanuel Baptist Church.   Full article.   

 

Kent House hosts Spring Herb Day

Kent House will host its Spring Herb Day on Saturday, April 9 from 8:00 until 1:00 pm. The event features a variety of herbs and flowers, food, arts and crafts, and lectures from Master Gardeners. Full information.

 

Hodges Gardens annual spring fling March 26

This year's Spring Fling at Hodges Gardens will include a car show, 5K and loop runs, food, arts and crafts. A new feature will be geocaching, a family friendly high-tech treasure hunting game that uses a GPS. Tours of the gardens and the wild azalea trail will be available. Admission price is $5 per person, $4 for seniors 62+, free for children under 3.   Full article

 

Port Barre festival gets cracklin

Pig skin: It not only provides America with the material — and the monicker — for the ball in one of its most popular sports, it also inspired an entire festival. This weekend marks the 25th anniversary of the annual Port Barre Cracklin' Festival, a small-town Louisiana festival at its finest. The nonprofit Port Barre Lions Club holds the Cracklin' Festival as its major fundraiser and donates all festival proceeds to the Louisiana Eye Foundation in New Orleans and the Lions Camp for Crippled Children in Leesville. Hundreds of Thousands of Lights Waiting for Christmas Visitors in Natchitoches

The 2009 Natchitoches Christmas Festival Parade is set for 1 p.m. Dec. 5 in downtown Natchitoches, and more than 300,000 lights and 70 lighted set pieces illuminate Cane River Lake. Full Article.
