LSU Alexandria students will pay $50.00 more for tuition next fall. The board of supervisors today voted in a slate of tuition increases to accommodate the governor's budget. Full article.

A job fair for Louisiana State University at Alexandria students is set for 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. March 16 in the Brumfield-Caffey Ballroom. The fair, connects LSUA students with potential employers for part- and full-time positions. Full article.
Au revoir! Final French film fest starts March 11 at LSU-Alexandria
LSUA will host its fifth and final five-day French Film Festival on March 11. The Tournees French Film Festival is free to the public, thanks to a grant from the French/American Cultural Exchange. Five films will be shown in five days between March and April. Full article.
Spring Preview Day at LSUA postponed
Spring Preview Day at LSUA, which had been scheduled for Feb 10, has been rescheduled for March 4. Students who registered for Spring Preview Day will be re-registered automatically for March 4. Full article.
Shuttle Service Schedule from Alexandria to LSUA
Roundtrip spring semester shuttle service to LSU Alexandria from the downtown Alexandria bus terminal will depart at 7 and 10 a.m. and 2 and 4 p.m., and return from campus at 7:30 and 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. The shuttle is available Monday thru Friday, and the cost is $1 roundtrip. LSUA to hold Arbor Day event
A rededication of the Cotton Oak and the planting of 38 trees will highlight the annual Arbor Day observance at noon Jan 20 at Louisiana State University at Alexandria. The Cotton Oak, named in honor of the late William F. Cotton Sr. is among the oldest of the estimated 250-year-old trees from Oakland Plantation, the site on which LSUA is built. Full article.
Central LA universities balance plans with declining funding
Over the past two years, higher education in the state has seen the loss of almost $300 million and local universities are facing even more cuts in 2011. Officials are hopeful their institutions will ride out the economic storm in the upcoming year. LSUA faces a $3.17 million cut and Chancellor Dave Manuel recently indicated that LSUA's challenge will come in finding opportunities. Full article.

LSUA receives largest grant in school history
Cleco Corp. recently established an endowed chair in finance at LSU Alexandria with a $600,000 gift, named in honor of the company's former CEO and Chairman, Scott Brame. The donation is the single largest gift in the 50-year history of LSUA, and is expected to be matched with a $400,000 grant from the Louisiana Board of Regents Support Fund for Eminent Scholars.
