The Komen NECLA Affiliate is proud to announce the availability of grant funds to support efforts to reduce breast cancer disparities in Avoyelles, Caldwell, Catahoula, Concordia, East Carroll, Franklin, Grant, Jackson, La Salle, Lincoln, Madison, Morehouse, Ouachita, Rapides, Richland, Tensas, Union, Vernon and West Carroll parishes. New State Efforts to Reduce Dropouts Should Improve Graduation Rate to 80% by 2014
Rapides is one of several La school districts operating pilot programs designed to encourage students to stay in school. One of the more successful programs is the Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG), which received national & state awards, is designed for at-risk students and dropouts working toward a GED to learn academic, personal, leadership and vocational skills in an 18-month program.
