LA’s Fast Start Program ahead of schedule

LA’s brand-new FastStart program, designed to create the best workforce-training program in the nation within three years, is one year ahead of schedule. FastStart is a customized worker recruitment, screening and training program the state offers for free to certain companies that are moving to the state or making a major expansion and that commit to create at least 15 jobs for a manufacturer or research-and-development firm or 50 jobs for a service-related operation.   Full article.

Jindal vetoes economic development reporting bill

Gov. Bobby Jindal rejected a bill aimed at getting more information about jobs and businesses recruited by the state’s economic development office. In his veto letter, the governor indicated that the bill could hurt business recruitment in LA by requiring the dept to publish information about every company contact it makes, even “casual inquiries.” Full Article.
