After missing the last four games following arthroscopic knee surgery, Saints cornerback Tracy Porter may be ready to return to the team’s lineup. That’s a lot to work on before New Orleans visits Tampa Bay, but Payton said that it doesn’t require a lot of change in how he handles his team.  Full article.

New Orleans Saints kick off season with win over Minnesota Vikings

Apparently, the Saints needed to shake a little bit of rust off that sterling silver Lombardi Trophy to start this season. The 14 points were the fewest the Saints have scored in a victory during the Sean Payton-Drew Brees time of offensive theatrics. We had two missed field goals and a touchdown pass caught out of bounds that didn’t count. High notes included a Vilma interception and a couple of near-interceptions by several Saints players. Bottom line: It was an ugly win, but we’ll take it.  Full Article.

Saints lose 1st preseason game

The first preseason Saints game performance was definitely not stellar, with a LOT of missed tackles and even more mistakes. The highlight of the game was Larry Beavers’ kickoff return for a touchdown. Bottom line – defense, especially that of special teams, looked a lot like Swiss cheese – full of holes. Looks like this week practice might need to focus on tackling 101 and who am I supposed to cover?  Full Article.
