Superdome to get new light show
The Superdome in New Orleans will soon debut a lighting ceremony to showcase the capabilities of the its new light system. The lighting will be similar to the temporary system that was in place for the 2006 "Monday Night Football" reopening of the Superdome and the first post-9/11 Super Bowl in 2002. Full article.
How the Superdome changed its name
New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson is a longtime Mercedes-Benz dealer in New Orleans and San Antonio. Benson's wife, Gayle, suggested approaching the company about the name change. The Superdome's new name will reinforce the Mercedes-Benz brand, and it's also likely that Mercedes-Benz will have its latest models on display at the stadium. Full article.
Superdome’s 6-year transformation nearly complete
SMG vice president Doug Thornton, whose company runs the state-owned stadium, says a $336 million, multiphase transformation during six years since Hurricane Katrina has the dome ready to host and bid for major national events. The dome is scheduled to host the next BCS national championship and NCAA men’s basketball Final Four, along with the Super Bowl in 2013. Full article.
Saints v. Vikings to kick off 2010 NFL season

Louisiana Working to Keep Saints in Superdome Until 2025
While the New Orleans Saints focused on their historic Super Bowl season, state officials have been busy activating the many moving parts of an unusual new financial deal tying the club to the Superdome until at least 2025. Team owner Tom Benson's new agreements with LA cleared the lingering clouds of uncertainty about whether the team will remain a New Orleans franchise, a subject of grave concern after Hurricane Katrina.
