Google tablets may pass IPad with more accessibility
Analysts recently indicated that tablet computers running Google Inc.’s Android will start taking sales from Apple Inc.’s iPad this holiday season and may surpass it in a few years as device makers adopt the software for a slew of models. Smartphones running Android have already surpassed Apple’s iPhone in the U.S., and Google may repeat its success with tablets because its operating system is freely available to any company. Microsoft’s Chief Executive said Microsoft needs to do better in the market for tablet computers that Apple Inc. has found success in with its iPad. Microsoft is working closely with hardware partners to improve the quality of tablet devices that run Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system. Tablet or slate devices, which are the thin, keyboard-free computers with touch screens that run Windows 7 haven't caught on yet, as computer makers struggle to create products with the responsiveness and ease of use of the iPad. Apple Reports 1st Day Sale of More Than 300,000 IPads
Apple Inc., trying to revive demand for tablet-style computers with its iPad, said it sold more than 300,000 of the devices on the first day of their debut weekend. The number includes preorders, sales at Apple stores and deliveries to channel partners on April 3. Full Article.
