Looks like the “boys” finally got their rhythm back! Key turnovers and two Drew Brees touchdown passes helped the New Orleans Saints turn the tide in their favor and defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers in front of 70,011 fans at the Louisiana Superdome. Saints stomp Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Finally (About time, too) -- Drew Brees can look at the NFC standings and like what he sees. The New Orleans Saints (4-2) are tied for the best record in the conference and are in solid position to defend their Super Bowl title, particularly if they continue to play with the dominant form they displayed against Tampa Bay. "It's out there for the taking, and I think we entered the season feeling that way and really nothing's going to change that mentality," Brees said Monday after the team reviewed video of New Orleans' 31-6 trouncing of the Buccaneers. With 1 second left on the clock Saints kick winning field goal
With one second left on the clock, Garrett Hartley kicked a 37-yard field goal that was partially blocked and barely fluttered through the uprights. The defending Super Bowl champion Saints, who relied on their defense most of the game, got the ball back at the 30 with 1:14 left and the wind at their back. Brees hit Colston with a pass that put the Saints on the 18 with 18 seconds left. The 49ers watched anxiously as Hartley's kick just made it. Full article.
New Orleans Saints kick off season with win over Minnesota Vikings
Apparently, the Saints needed to shake a little bit of rust off that sterling silver Lombardi Trophy to start this season. The 14 points were the fewest the Saints have scored in a victory during the Sean Payton-Drew Brees time of offensive theatrics. We had two missed field goals and a touchdown pass caught out of bounds that didn’t count. High notes included a Vilma interception and a couple of near-interceptions by several Saints players.
