Woodworth fire rating improves
Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon recently indicated that an improved fire rating will lower fire insurance premiums for homeowners in Woodworth beginning Feb. 6. The reason: Woodworth's fire protection grading improved from Class 5 to Class 4. Full article.
Woodworth “green” school named after Caroline Dormon
The Rapides Parish School Board recently that its first "green" school will be named in honor of a legendary preservationist, Caroline Dormon. Dorman was a Louisiana botanist, historian and preservationist, is credited for the establishment of Kisatchie National Forest in Louisiana. Full article.
Rapides Parish School District to build first “green” school—in Woodworth
The Rapides Parish School District is a step away from beginning construction of its first environmentally friendly or "green" school in Woodworth. Officials confirmed that the district acquired a 33-acre site, off U.S. Highway 165, and the school, for pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade students, is slated to open in August 2012. Jim Clinton: Area prosperity initiative takes serious commitment
The first Summit on the Future of Central Louisiana convened on April 19 at the Wesley Center at Woodworth. David Cole and Pete Johnson, invited speakers, spoke about the importance of building partnerships, giving several examples of successful initiatives with multiple educational, non-profit and business partners. The third speaker, Ronnie Bryant, traced the elements of successful regional initiatives. Growth in Woodworth
Woodworth officials recently moved a welcome sign farther north along U.S. 165, reflecting the town's most recent annexation. When longtime Mayor David C. Butler II first took office, Woodworth had fewer than 400 residents. That jumped to 1,080 in the 2000 Census, and estimates show the population grown to more than 2,000. Full Article.

Woodworth Hosts National Hunting and Fishing Day Activities
Woodworth will celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Woodworth Education Center, 661 Robinson Road. This is a national event, recognized by the Governors of each participating state. Full Article
