CLEDA earns praise for economic development efforts
One year after merging the area's two biggest economic development entities, local stakeholders know they did the right thing. The old Central Louisiana Economic Development Alliance and Cenla Advantage Partnership merged into the current, reorganized CLEDA one year ago. Since then, the new CLEDA helped land two major new employers, and narrowly missed out on a third. LED Secretary Stephen Moret praised CLEDA, citing the organization's efforts in recruitment, business retention and expansion, entrepreneurship development and workforce development. Full article.

Cenla businesses learn 'The Art of Giving Great Customer Service"
Every business wants to achieve great customer service, but many don't know how. This week, representatives from local businesses attended one of two free ZingTrain seminars in "The Art of Giving Great Customer Service" at Alexandria Convention Hall. Central Louisiana Economic Development Alliance, the Rapides Foundation and BAS funded the seminars. Full article.
Rapides Foundation's Rosier named to La. Medicaid committee
Joe Rosier, chief execiutive of The Rapides Foundation in Alexandria, was recently named to the state's Bayou Health Quality Committee, which will monitor the changes being phased in with the state's Medicaid program. Bayou Health will coordinate care for two-thirds of Louisiana's Medicaid recipients through five private health plans. Full article.

Savvy business owners understand the importance of reminding clients in advance of their seasonal business opening. Doing this negates the risk of losing established customers and not getting new clients. People are making purchasing decisions sooner than before, so getting the word out early is critical. Alexandria area continues to gain jobs
The latest report from Louisiana Workforce Commission indicates that the Alexandria area continues to reclaim jobs it lost during the economic downturn. Overall, employment rose by 10,500 in the state in March. Louisiana has added 47,300 jobs since the start of the year. Full article.
CLEDA names Denley to lead Business Retention and Expansion Efforts
CLEDA’s Board of Directors recently authorized hiring Wayne Denley as a full time Manager of Business Retention and Expansion. Denley’s previous experience as contractor conducting interviews with key employers and as a coach and subject matter expert for our Business Acceleration System clients makes his entry into CLEDA seamless and allows CLEDA to quickly ramp up retention and expansion initiatives.
