Net Zero helps Fort Polk achieve sustainable future
The Army recently chose Fort Polk as a one of eighteen pilot installations for its Net Zero Waste program. Net Zero is about reducing energy use, water use and waste production, all of which can help secure the Army's mission into the future. Army sources indicate that reducing consumption involves participation by all post agencies and residents on Fort Polk. Full article.

Super Bowl XLVII coming to New Orleans in 2013
Local officials in New Orleans hope the arrival of Super Bowl XLVII next February (2013) will finally allow the Big Easy to breathe easy again as it continues to rebuild from Katrina’s wrath. The Super Bowl will be preceded by the NCAA men's Final Four this year, and will be followed by the women's Final Four in 2013. NO KILL Animal Rescue Center in Alexandria
Boudreaux’s Animal Rescue Krewe (BARK) is a NO KILL animal rescue center. BARK currently has 175 dogs housed at their shelter. Every dog is spayed or neutered as well as micro-chipped before leaving the center. Full article.
