The Shaw Group received a contract to serve as an advisor to the U.S. Dept of Energy. Shaw will assist the Office of Nuclear Energy by providing advice on research and policy development, analytical assessments and research and development support. Full article.
AT&T iPhone users not satisfied
About a fourth of AT&T iPhone users would rather switch than stay, if given the chance. Investment Bank Credit Suisse says 23 percent of iPhone users want to sign with Verizon, but most would wait until their present contract expired. La. tumor registry gets $12M federal contract
The LA Tumor Registry recently received a seven-year, $12 million contract to remain part of the National Cancer Institute’s registry. The central office for Louisiana’s registry has been at the LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans School of Public Health since 1995. Full Article.
B.R. Company gets $118 million Fort Benning deal
Tiya Support Services, a subsidiary of Baton Rouge-based Keta Group, landed a nearly $118 million contract for facilities and maintenance work at Fort Benning, Ga. Tiya will take over from Shaw Infrastructure on Sept. 19, and Shaw is expected to be a subcontractor for Tiya after the transition occurs. Shaw awarded US Army Corps of Engineers contract
The Shaw Group recently received a contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to help clean up sites contaminated by munitions. Shaw is one of five firms who will compete for shares of the contract with the Corps Omaha, Neb., District. Official hired to raise math scores
A new top official of the Louisiana Department of Education is working under a one-year contract with the state to improve math and science scores. Shaw gets contract for Corps fuel storage complex
The Shaw Group received a contract to design and build a military fuel distribution center and storage complex for the Omaha, Neb., district of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Shaw will upgrade and modernize the distribution center, handling fuel storage tanks of more than 500,000 gallons. Full Article.
Placid Refining gets $107 million fuel contract
Placid Refining of Port Allen recently received a $107.4 million contract to provide aviation fuel to the military from the Defense Energy Support Center, which purchases and manages fuel for all branches of the U.S. military. Placid was one of six refineries selected and has been providing aviation fuel for the military for nearly 20 years. Full Article.
LA’s Office of Group Benefits awards Blue Cross/Blue Shield contract
La's Office of Group Benefits recently awarded a contract to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, a move that will add up to 200 jobs in La. Blue Cross will process claims, provide customer service and meet other needs of state employees enrolled in the Office of Group Benefits' self-insured HMO health plan. Full Article.
