BP claims czar: Proximity has no role in payment
Kenneth Feinberg, the administrator of the fund doling out money to Gulf of Mexico oil spill victims says geographic proximity to oil-impacted areas will no longer play a role in whether people and businesses are compensated. He recently announced a more lenient program that would not rule out claims simply because claimants are not located on the coast. Full article.
Breaking News: Nucor to Build Steel Mill in Louisiana
Charlotte-based Nucor Corp. has announced one of the largest industrial development wins in Louisiana history. Nucor President John Ferriola joined Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal in making the announcement. The iron and steel project could create as many as 1250 jobs averaging $75,000 annually plus benefits. The capital investment could be as high as $3.4 billion. The recruitment of Nucor has taken several years. Nucor had previously announced that if it built in the United States, it would be in Louisiana. Until today, Louisiana was competing against a site in Brazil. Full story here.
Facebook ready to introduce new location service
Analysts indicated that Facebook Inc. may unveil location services for its site at a company event scheduled for August 18. Location-based services, which let users share information on their whereabouts and find friends nearby, could generate as much as $4.1 billion annually in advertising by 2015. Full Article.

Twilight movie producer scouting Louisiana locations
One of the producers of the Twilight movies has been to Louisiana to scout locations for the final two movies in the series. Best Buy Coming to Alexandria
