Report recommends community college in Alexandria

The LA Community & Technical College System Board of Supervisors recently accepted a report from a consultant recommending a college in Alexandria. The report next goes to the Board of Regents. If accepted, plans for the college can begin soon, with the hope that students can start participating in new programs this fall.   Full article.  

 

LA’s College Streamlining Commission Panel Votes for Two Higher Ed Boards

LA should have only two higher education management boards: one for universities & one for community & technical colleges, the state’s college streamlining commission voted on 2/4/2010. Gov. Jindal supports even strong consolidation into a single board for all higher education. Full Article.

 

LA Work Force Suffers From Skills Gap

"There continues to be a skills gap in this state," Louisiana Community and Technical College System President Joe May, recently told a group of local business, community and educational leaders. "Employers can't find people with the skills they need. For some folks, that puts the future of their business in jeopardy." Full Article
