Alexandria coach earns statewide honor

Don Boniol, Alexandria Country Day School’s coach for physical education, baseball and sixth-grade girls basketball, is being recognized again for his many years of work teaching, coaching and developing youth. The honor comes with free airfare and hotel accommodations to allow him to visit the city of his choice in the continental United States. Full article.  

 

Cenla Advantage Partnership awarded $500,000 for Entrepreneurship Support

LA’s Office of Community Development-Disaster Recovery Unit recently announced $20 million in awards to nonprofit organizations in LA to provide low-interest loans and technical assistance to small businesses. Cenla Advantage Partnership will receive $500,000 for technical assistance for its entrepreneurship initiative clients. “This award, along with the continuing support of The Rapides Foundation, will allow us to continue to build on our Business Acceleration System,” said CAP CEO Jim Clinton. “In the four years that this initiative has been operating, our client businesses have created about 750 direct and indirect jobs and upwards of $150 million in economic impact.”  Full information.

 

Louisiana Ranks First in Southern Economic Development...Again

For the second year in a row, Louisiana has been named Co-State of the Year (with Tennessee) by Southern Business and Development magazine. In addition, Baton Rouge was named Mid-Market of the Year with Shreveport getting an honorable mention in that category. Monroe was named Small Market of the Year and Houma won honorable mention in that category. More details are available in Louisiana Economic Development's press release and SB-D.com.  

 

LED Ranked Second Best Performing State Economic Development Agency In The U.S.

Site Selection magazine announced its 2009 Competitiveness Awards, which recognize excellence on the part of state-level economic development groups. According to Site Selection, Louisiana Economic Development (LED) appeared in the ranking's top 10 for the first time, placing second. Full Information.

LA Econ. Dev. (LED) Program Receives National Recognition
